When to plant

See care notes for timing in your zone.

Timing shifts with your zone — the Genie can pin down exact dates for you.

How to care for it

Sow seed in early spring or fall, lightly raked in. Keep moist until germinated (7-14 days). Mow occasionally at 3-4 in to encourage dense growth and discourage taller weeds.

Good companions

Excellent living mulch under fruit trees, berries, and vegetables; fixes nitrogen for heavy feeders

Harvest

Harvest young leaves and flowers for salads or tea; cut whole plants as nitrogen-rich green mulch.
