How to care for it
The opposite of most garden plants: poor, sandy, alkaline soil and as much sun as possible. Sharp drainage is life or death — gravel mulch, never organic. Shear a third after bloom; never cut into woody stems.
Good companions
Rosemary, thyme, sage (Mediterranean bed)
Harvest
Flower spikes at bud stage for drying, half-open for fresh use.
